Running socks

Do you know how to buy the right running socks? The type of sock you choose ( material, number of layers and length ) for your running sessions can make a big difference in your comfort, safely and even performance. The main fuction of a good athletic sock is keeping the foot dry, provide the best cushioning and reduce friction. This way, blister and athlete's foot will not be a problem if your make the right selection. Even if you're not a runner, any vigorous activity such as aerobics can be made more pleasant by wearing a pair.

Perhaps the most important thing we must consider to buy running socks will be the material. Cotton socks are not really reliable. When they get wet, you get wet; when they get cold, you get cold. So, if you want to have a very good blister, try with them. By the other side, there are just another syntetical products: polyester, acrylic, CoolMax. All of them will do their best to maintain the foot dry, cool and confortable, so it will be more difficult to have a blister. You'll want to find a pair that are warm in the winter and cooling during summer seasons.

Sock's number of layers is a really good consideration. But just wait a little!, are we talking about onions? Not really, but modern socks usually have two layers. Pourpose of this second layer is to “replace” the skin in order to avoid blisters due to friction. This way we can avoid to wear two pair of socks, which was a very popular solution when playing some sports. So don't look at price and try to get double-layered socks.

As a third point sock's length could be important. But as opposite to the first two points, it is a very personal choice. Some people love those short ancle socks, and most and most people tend to wear tall socks in order to “protect” calfs. As socks are worn next to the feet, if they don't conform to your feet, you could be wasting your money buying some other expensive accessories, but they would fail. Because sometimes the problem is more simple than it looks.

Anyway, if you are a runner, and you don't want to get stoped due to feet problems, even if you're not a runner, any vigorous activity such as aerobics can be made more pleasant by wearing a pair of good running socks. Try to avoid cotton socks and use syntetical ones and wear double-layered socks if possible. With respect to socks' length , it is on your own to know which one will be the best for you. Just try, run, and don't stop.
